What is a Radar Detector

A radar detector serves as a warning to the driver whenever there are speed traps coming up. It works by shooting out radar waves, and measures the Doppler Effect on moving cars (you can check out the actual science behind it on other websites) in order to calculate their speeds. The best radar detector nowadays can differentiate between fake alarms (waves sent out by hidden cameras in stores and other electronic equipment sharing the same wavelength), and prevent detection by radar detector detectors (RDD). It is an interesting gadget but personally, I would not get one myself. I would just stick by the rules.
