Colchicine An Effective Drug for Gout
An old but a very effective drug for the early management of gout is the Colchicine. It is effective at pain relief within 24-48 hours. Because all drugs have toxic side effects of course this drug for gout also does have side effects which is not applicable to use for it can damage the kidney. Regardless of this it is still helpful to assist diagnose gout in the less common places. Typically gout is really easy to diagnose in the big toe joint, as the signs are so typical. In other joints it is not so easy to diagnose, so often a dose or two of Colchicine will tell you if its gout or not. The pain will go away within 24-48 hours if it is gout.
