Weaning from Breastfeeding Teaches Independence

Parenting is teaching our children to become independent. Eventually, our children must leave and form a family of their own. We must always make decisions that ultimately separate us from our kids. At times, it hurts but that’s our job.  We first begin when our child is still a baby. We have to make a decision when we will wean him from breastfeeding. After the birth and the umbilical cord is cut, our baby still finds nourishment from his mother. He depends on her utterly but we must teach him to be independent. We watch out for signs that our kid is ready to try solid foods, like the emergence of teeth. Then we teach him to try it and every step that he takes will make him grow farther away from us. But that’s our job as parents.
