Fix the spoolsv.exe application error
Spoolsv.exe handles the printing process on a Windows system. If you are facing the spoolsv.exe application error, below is a step-by-step process to fix it. Too many .SHD and .SPL files in the spool directory is the most common cause of the error. These files are created by the spooler to save the spooled data of a print job.
To fix the spoolsv.exe application error, all you have to do is remove the cause that is to remove the .SHD and .SPL files that you or your system doesn’t actually need. To do this, go to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services > Services management console. Stop the Spooler services by right-clicing on it. Next, open the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers folder and delete all the .SHD and SPL files. Finally, restart the Spooler service by following a similar procedure that you did for stopping the spooler services.
